United Airlines and Rex Cargo have agreed on an alliance. It's a continuation of a 20-year GSA agreement with Continental Airlines to handle cargo marketing and handling in Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua. The agreement with Continental expired and United decided to continue the sales and ground handling provided by the subsidiary of Rex America. Alvaro Alpizar, CEO of Rex America and Rex Cargo, said: "With this decision, United has evaluated our role as service provider for Continental in the past two decades. United is a major cargo airline, especially to and from Asia and Europe. For this reason we are able to offer our customers strategic cargo service to these important markets."
In other action, AirCargo Germany arrives at Jorge Chavez-Lima Airport. The German air cargo airline launched its first weekly flight Dec. 28 between Frankfurt-Hahn with a B747-400F, becoming the first air cargo service between Europe and Peru. Frank Ziesemer, CEO of Strike Aviation Group, as Cargo GSSA Peru for AirCargoGermany, said: "This historical step shows the importance of the Peruvian market to the European Community and it helps the producers of mangos, asparagus, pineapple and also the high-fashion textile industry to have their products next day in European stores. The Peruvian economy still grows more than the rest of the countries in the Americas and additional capacity was demanded by the export industry to satisfy demand." AirCargo Germany is the only direct freighter service from Peru to Europe.
