Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. has expanded its less-than-containerload (LCL) service, known as Pacific Promise, to service 10 additional ports in eight Asian countries. The new locations are in Manila, the Philippines; Singapore; Jakarta and Surabaya, Indonesia; Penang, Port Klang and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Bangkok, Thailand; Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Busan, South Korea. Launched in China in 2009, and expanded in 2010 and 2011, Pacific Promise offers standard guaranteed transit times and simplified rates from the 23 ports in Asia to any destination in the U.S. The service also includes port-to-door tracking of all shipments. Offered through OD-Global, Pacific Promise is available to customers in a number of categories, including those importing and exporting high-value and time-sensitive goods. In another company announcement, Old Dominion has opened its first container-drayage facility in the Pacific Northwest. The new Seattle-Tacoma Drayage Operation will directly serve all ports, railheads and containeryards in the region. It is co-located with Old Dominion's Seattle Service Center, giving the carrier direct access to the ports of Seattle and Tacoma. Drayage services include direct, point-to-point delivery, loading and unloading, short-term warehousing and container pools.
