Under the deal, Purfresh will provide HMM with active-atmosphere equipment, particularly during peak seasons, along with post-voyage reports of each trip. Purfresh uses a USDA and FDA-approved active form of natural oxygen to kill up to 99 percent of molds, yeasts and bacteria in the air and on surfaces. The company constantly monitors and manages the environment inside the refrigerated container during the voyage, making possible the safe transportation of sensitive fruits and vegetables over long distances. HMM is offering Purfresh as a per-trip service for shipping both climacteric and non-climacteric produce. HMM operates more than 40 sea routes to some 100 ports of call.
