Handling nearly 2,000 shipments per month, the facility bundles all automotive activities of DHL for the local market, serving original equipment manufacturers and first-tier suppliers. Drawing on a staff of 17, it covers airfreight, ocean freight and purchase-order management for clients in the Brazilian automotive industry. According to DHL, the Automotive Competence Center will streamline customers' internal automotive supply chains in collaboration with other countries and regions around the world. Currently DHL maintains seven competence centers as part of its global network, with a focus on markets in developing countries. It serves a total of more than 220 countries and territories, with some 275,000 employees around the world.
