Dubbed Xpand, the new offering allows retail distribution, parcel and postal applications to utilize fewer readers. With Xpand, the field of view of a single DataMan 300 can be increased by more than 50 percent, according to Cognex. Users can obtain higher read rates, meaning that a smaller number of packages have to be handled manually, and fewer workers are needed for relabeling or rerouting rejects. The Xpand accessory was designed specifically for use with the DataMan 300 readers. Cognex manufactures a variety of machine vision and industrial ID systems, used for inspection, identification and guidance applications in manufacturing and distribution operations.
