CargoSmart Ltd., a vendor of global logistics software and services in a hosted mode, has released two new products, Exception Management and Milestone Assignments. The tools are meant to help shippers; consignees and logistics service providers increase supply-chain visibility and improve collaboration. Exception Management automatically detects exceptions to expected shipment plans, alerting customers about key events so that they can adjust their logistics arrangements. The tool includes more than 40 standard milestones that are updated by ocean carriers. Milestone Assignments allows users to assign shipment-related tasks to their supply-chain associates, who can then update the status of tasks directly into CargoSmart. Both products manage customers' information from multiple carriers, allowing them to spot changes to expected shipment plans and improve the management of workflow. CargoSmart originally was set up as an ocean shipment-management portal, handling data between customers and their carriers. The new products add on-demand logistics-management services for visibility and workflow. CargoSmart also offers a Quick Start Guide, to help customers identify key areas where they can improve visibility and reduce costs.
