Ortec, a provider of advanced planning and optimization software and related consulting services, has forged a strategic alliance with TouchStar Technologies, Ltd., a specialist within the mobile computing and wireless communication markets. Together the companies are providing a transportation planning and execution application to the oil and gas industry. The product will integrate Ortec's secondary distribution optimization software with ToucherStar's rugged onboard vehicle computers. Ortec offers an application suite specifically for bulk manufacturing and distribution companies. Its products cover telemetry, scheduling, mobile computing and enterprise resource planning (ERP) interfacing. The new alliance is already serving a number of customers, including Gulf Oil in the Netherlands and Q8 in the Benelux countries. Ortec's Demand Forecasting and Order Generation software provides automated stock replenishment as part of service strategies for product deliveries. In addition, a Vehicle Routing and Dispatch tool generates both static and dynamic transportation schedules for bulk operations. TouchStar has been serving the oil and gas markets for more than 20 years, specializing in on-board vehicle systems.
