Southeastern Freight Lines, a provider of regional less-than-truckload (LTL) services, has expanded its operations into Mexico. The trucker now has four shipping options for Mexico freight, including border-only, door-to-door, one-stop shop and customs clearance at destination. To support the expanded offerings, Southeastern has opened a new service center in Laredo, TX. The facility features 46 doors and a 30,000-square-foot warehouse. Domestic border service covers goods moving from any of Southeastern's coverage areas in the U.S. to the consignee's customs broker in Laredo. Door-to-door, with broker provided by the consignee, originates in the U.S. and delivers directly to Mexican destinations. Door-to-door with broker provided by Southeastern involves management of the entire move, from pickup to final destination in Mexico. Mexican in-bound shipments bypass customs at the border and clear in Mexico City, Guadalajara or Monterrey, using a broker nominated by the consignee. Southeastern directly services 12 states in the U.S. Southeast and Puerto Rico, and maintains relations with service partners in the remaining 38. It operates a total of 76 service centers.
