Sonasoft Corp. has developed a new version of SonaSafe for SQL Servers. The software offers a number of new features for SQL server data protection and disaster recovery, including pre-defined templates for backup, a new user interface, improved manageability, and enhanced replication and recovery capability. The SonaSafe application allows a standby system to take over instantly in the event of primary system failure. The standby can be onsite, or located at a remote site for protection against natural or manmade disasters. Users can configure pre-defined templates to meet their unique data-protection and disaster-recovery needs. A specific SQL database can be restored periodically and be used for reporting purposes. Also included in the new version of SonaSafe is the ability automatically to add newly created databases to a pre-existing plan. The feature helps to ensure that all databases are automatically protected, Sonasoft said. The revamped user interface allows users to navigate and manage disparate tasks. Sonasoft's compliance, disaster-recovery and data-protection technology is designed for the Microsoft platform.
