International Asset Systems has created a Web-based portal to complement its InterChange service offering. IAS is a provider of applications and brokerage services for intermodal transportation. It manages a global information network which encompasses thousands of operators and their trading partners, including ocean carriers, third-party logistics providers, non-vessel operating common carriers, intermodal marketing companies, equipment leasers, motor carriers, repair depots and railroads. InterChange brokers match customers' surplus containers with other customers' equipment needs, reducing the cost of repositioning empty equipment. According to IAS, the new Web portal gives users online access to up-to-the-minute interchange details and reports, which can lead to improved equipment control, tracking and analysis of booking activity. IAS's applications are available in a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, accessible via the Web, or as integrated extensions of clients' transportation-management systems.
