Horizon Lines Inc., a U.S. domestic ocean shipping and logistics provider, will add regularly scheduled container service between Tampa and Puerto Rico, beginning with the arrival of the Horizon Discovery on Oct. 4. The call will be added to the carrier's Gulf Express Service, currently operating a fixed-day, bi-weekly schedule between Houston and San Juan. The additional call provides new service options for customers located in west and central Florida, while continuing to offer a fixed-day vessel service between Houston and San Juan, Horizon said. The expanded bi-weekly Gulf Express port rotation will be Houston, Tampa and San Juan. The service complements the carrier's direct U.S. East Coast Puerto Rico services offered from Jacksonville twice weekly, and from Elizabeth, N.J. once a week.
