Glacier Computer, a supplier of rugged industrial computers for harsh environments, has unveiled a new line of equipment through a partnership with M3 Mobile. Under the initial phase of the agreement, Glacier will co-brand existing M3 products. It will then transition to a series of Glacier-only branded equipment, drawing on core technologies from both companies. The M3 Series of handheld computers are designed with many of the same attributes as Glacier's Everest Series of vehicle-mounted computers, such as high-quality ruggedization and a high degree of configuration flexibility. The M3 Series offers a variety of models from which to choose. Each utilizes board-level ruggedization techniques that provide an ultra-light and durable form factor. Weighing less than 12 ounces, the units have been drop-tested from five feet and sealed to an IP 65 rating. The M350 model has been optimized for medical applications, by utilizing a silver nano case that can withstand conditions that might otherwise degrade the housing or sealing.
