Aras, a vendor of software for product lifecycle management (PLM), has released the latest version of its Aras Innovator suite. According to the company, the tool was designed specially for large-scale, global PLM deployments. It features support for data-center virtualization, enabling distributed deployment scenarios across physical server infrastructure resources around the world. New caching techniques optimize system calls and minimize traffic over wide-area networks (WANs) for faster performance, particularly on high-latency networks and in low-bandwidth conditions. Workflows operate in multiple languages while delivering activities and instructions in the native language of each participant. Multi-level system notification functionality allows system administrators to issue notices to users, while providing administrators with information on service packs and security updates. User notices can be tailored to specific users, groups and roles. Also included in the update are expanded security features, with advanced database protection, new system administrator controls and enhanced tracking and auditing capabilities. In a related announcement, Defiance Technologies Ltd., a provider of global engineering, enterprise resource planning and information-technology services, has joined the Aras Partner Program. Defiance offers PLM consulting, design, implementation and support services to customers in automotive, high-tech, aerospace and defense, life science, healthcare and retail.
