Southeastern Freight Lines has created a new subsidiary to provide a range of expedited and multimodal transportation services to customers nationwide. Southeastern Logistics Solutions (SLS) will seek strategic capacity partnerships in order to deliver the new offerings. Its primary focus at the outset will be the truckload service areas of dry van, temperature-controlled reefer, flatbed and intermodal rail. The new unit will also manage all expedited products that require partnership capacity outside Southeastern Freight Lines' less-than-truckload (LTL) network. Over time, SLS plans to introduce additional services, including cartage, drayage, air freight, residential delivery and import distribution. The president of SLS is Mike Moss, who has more than 20 years' experience in the transportation industry, including a stint as president and chief executive officer of FedEx Freight-West and FedEx National LTL. The new services will available both to shippers and third-party logistics companies. Southeastern Freight Lines is a privately owned, regional LTL provider specializing in next-day service in the U.S. Southeast and Southwest. It operates 76 service centers in 12 states and Puerto Rico.
