Menlo Worldwide Logistics has created Menlo Transportation Services, a portfolio of transportation-management offerings. They are geared toward removing waste, boosting efficiency and introducing Lean continuous-improvement processes, the company said. Menlo Transportation Services consists of two primary service offerings: Solution Engineering and Transportation Management. The first is aimed at designing more efficient and reliable transportation networks. Capabilities include assessment of the current state of transportation networks; identification of waste using Lean methodologies, design and testing of alternative operating models and transportation network designs, development of a road map and timeline for deploying improvements, and evaluation of the new operating model to ensure that projected benefits are being captured. Transportation Management offers a menu of functions across modes and geographies. Its capabilities include evaluation and management of transportation resources and contracts, tendering of freight shipments, integration of product and order information, settlement of freight and audit charges, management of claims, and creation of performance analytics related to transportation spend and service metrics.
