The company recently established a logistical warehouse and operations center in Sydney, Australia. The Erskine Park facility covers 21,000 square meters and will hold nearly 20,000 pallet positions for multiple customers. It is the fifth distribution hub to be opened in New South Wales by Schenker Australia Pty Ltd., and is DB Schenker's 16th in Australia. Erskine Park features timber pallet, cardboard, paper and plastic recycling operations, as well as a fleet of electric forklifts and trolleys. In another company announcement, Schenker-Seino Co. Ltd. has signed a 10-year lease agreement with the Redwood Group for a build-to-suit warehouse in the greater Tokyo area of Japan. The center will provide additional capacity for customers from a variety of industries, including electronics and consumer goods. It is scheduled to commence operations in Sept., 2013, with a 9,000-square-meter building and 33,000 square meters of total area. The center will include 30 truck berths.
