The new tool continuously and wirelessly monitors the temperature of perishable goods, alerting users if the proper temperature is not maintained. It is aimed at restaurants, grocers, convenience stores, warehouses and transportation companies. A subscription-based service, Digi Honeycomb is composed of Bluetooth-enabled handheld probes, wireless sensors, gateways and software that allow temperature data to be monitored, logged and retrieved, and be integrated into back-office systems. In the process, organizations in the perishable food industry can address such issues as food safety, chain-of-custody verification, loss prevention and shrinkage, proof of compliance and labor costs, Digi said.
