Recently the Trellix Advanced Research Center discovered two major vulnerabilities in Cisco network devices, exposing them to possible cyberattack. The first allows attackers to gain almost complete control of the device’s operating system. The second would permit overwriting of most of the files on the OS. Given that Cisco’s devices are the most popular with global networks today, affecting data centers, factories, power plants and even “smart” city power grids, the result of an attack would be devastating. On this episode, we speak with Doug McKee, director of vulnerability research with Trellix, about the possible danger that these threats pose to global supply chains and the devices that support them.
