Descartes Systems Group has gone live with its new Importer Security Filing (ISF) service. Designed to comply with the "10+2" filing requirement of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the service is available to the 4,000-plus members of Descartes' Global Logistics Network. Effective Jan. 26, 2009, the Customs rule calls for the filing of additional data elements by importers and carriers 24 hours prior to the loading of cargo aboard ships bound for the U.S. Descartes is offering three distinct ISF Service delivery options to its customers. Descartes ISF is a basic Web-user interface, which allows customers to log in via the internet and enter all of the data, required for an ISF filing. The service sends data directly to Customs and provides a view of the filing status. ISF-Connect enables users to gather the complete data set for the ISF filing in their own systems for submission to Customs. It transmits the data for each ISF filing and provides status information via electronic messages, for posting in the customer's own system. ISF-Premier allows for the collection of ISF filing data from multiple electronic document submissions or parties. Upon collection of the data for the partial ISF filing, the customer can complete the remaining required fields and submit the filing to Customers via the user interface as needed.
