New Momentum, a vendor of hosted risk-management applications, is now offering its anti-counterfeiting software to pharmaceutical companies. The company's Enterprise Brand Intelligence product, based on advanced Web-mining technology, gives pharmaceutical manufacturers greater visibility into global internet activity on a round-the-clock basis, New Momentum claimed. A custom dashboard and e-mail alerts keep brand-security managers apprised of new or potential counterfeit activity. Manufacturers gain the ability to locate new targets and networks that sell counterfeits, while doing a better job of modeling trends, the company said. Worldwide counterfeit sales are increasing at the rate of 13 percent a year, nearly twice the pace of legitimate pharmaceuticals, according to Stu Clifton, chief executive officer of New Momentum. The vendor also offers Enterprise Sales Intelligence for locating channel violations, and Supply Risk Management for managing supply interruptions.
