ALK Technologies Inc. has released PC-MILER 24, the latest version of its routing, mileage and mapping software for the North American transportation industry. Users can now access a Cost Routing feature to generate optimal routes based on customized fuel efficiency and operating cost settings. Also included is a greenhouse gas emissions estimator, to help companies determine their carbon footprint. PC-MILER 24, which calculates precise toll costs, now displays entry and exit toll plaza names in its route calculations, to help reconcile discount program toll charges. The tool can also consider rail intermodal routes for comparing truck and intermodal mileage, fuel consumption and carbon emissions. An updated Points-of-Interest feature displays small, medium and large intermodal ramps throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as LCV and tandem trailer lots. PC-MILER can generate mileage and directions based on a vehicle's height, length, width and weight. Version 24 adds Custom Vehicle Profiles, based on a given vehicle's type, dimensions and cost/time settings.
