Qualcomm Inc., a provider of integrated wireless systems and services to transportation, logistics and service fleet companies, has joined with FreightWatch to offer a covert freight-tracking system to Qualcomm customers. FreightWatch is a vendor of systems for global logistics security. Available to carriers of high-value and sensitive freight, the service uses concealed tracking technologies to maintain a continuous view of in-transit cargo from origin to destination. In addition to the asset-management capabilities of Qualcomm's mobile information systems, carriers will also have the ability to covertly track individual pallets or entire trailer loads. FreightWatch sells the Geo F1 and Geo F2 location position devices, along with its proprietary FSNtracks online service. The units are based on the inGeo platform, developed by Qualcomm's CDMA Technologies division. The devices are small enough to be hidden in hard-to-find locations, such as inside a freight pallet or on the undercarriage of a trailer. In addition, carriers get access to proactive theft-prevention and risk-management services.
