Savi Technology is opening up its suite of radio frequency identification (RFID) hardware and supply-chain software tools to outside developers. Under the Savi Developer program, they can gain quick access to the vendor's component technologies. Available online, Savi Developer tools include a Web Services Application Program Interface (API), utilizing Savi's portfolio of Web services to build Web-hosted software products; Adoptive Applications, drawing on Savi SmartChain software to develop asset management and supply-chain management tools, and RFID Hardware Components, enabling developers to embed DASH-7 (ISO 18000-7) products into their own hardware and software products. Online orders include access to the Savi Developer forum, hardware and software development tools, software source code, protocols for technical interfaces, and OEM components for Savi's RFID readers and tags. According to Savi, the program will make it easier for other RFID developers to embed standards-based technology, either as complete products or component parts within a full system, to diverse markets. Savi is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin.
