Wavelink Corp. is now offering mobile device management for devices running on the Apple iOS, Research in Motion BlackBerry and Google Android platforms. Support for managing the new smartphones will be included in the next major release of Wavelink Avalanche, the company said. The tool provides centralized configuration, deployment and management of mobile devices and wireless infrastructure across local and wide area networks. The software supports mobile devices on Windows Mobile, Windows CE, Palm OS and DOS operating systems, as well as embedded OS devices, printers, radio frequency identification readers, time clocks, access points, switches and other wireless devices. In extending support for managing Apple, BlackBerry and Android mobile platforms, Wavelink enhances Avalanche compatibility with the new smartphones, allowing remote help-desk personnel to solve mobile device and application problems in the field. Remote administrators can use their smartphones to connect directly to mobile devices that need attention, to perform such tasks as verifying the registry or starting and stopping processes. Wavelink provides software for multi-vendor mobile device management, wireless infrastructure management, terminal emulation, voice and mobile application development.
