The new devices support Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 and Android operating systems on the same hardware. They were designed to meet the needs of mobile workers in field sales, field service, public safety, direct store delivery, transportation and logistics markets. Users can choose between a 1D/2D imager and 1D laser scanner for decoding difficult-to-read barcodes. The rugged computers feature embedded RFID and NFC reading capability. The XM5 comes with either a QWERTY or numeric keypad, and 3.5-inch VGA display built to withstand heavy-duty use, including five-foot drops to concrete.
