Datalogic Mobile has received certification from AT&T for its Datalogic Elf, a rugged mobile computer. The development gives the Datalogic Elf access to more than 17.4 million broadband connections, the vendor said. Datalogic designed the Elf from the ground up, to support applications in field service, field sales, delivery, retail and logistics. Connectivity options include UMTS HSDPA mobile radio for voice and data communication. Elf includes embedded 802.11 a/b/g/ radio with CCX V4 certification for secure mobile connectivity. In a related announcement, Datalogic has released Pal software applications for mobile computers running the Windows CE and Windows Mobile operating systems. The suite consists of four applications: Shelf Inventory, Order Entry, Asset Tracking and Shelf Replenishment. It also includes Pal Communicator, a PC application which allows the transfer of data between a PC and mobile device. Users can view data in Excel and Notepad, among other systems.
