ALK Technologies Inc. has formed a partnership with Apacheta Corp. to provide truck fleets with mobile applications equipped with integrated, voice-guided global positioning system (GPS) navigation and vehicle-specific routing. ALK is a provider of geo-logistics and navigation software. Apacheta sells mobile workflow applications. According to the two companies, the joint offering combines the flexibility and productivity advantages of Apacheta's mobile applications with ALK's CoPilot software. Results, they claimed, include reduced fuel costs and out-of-route mileage, increased fleet efficiency, and improved driver safety. Under the partnership, Apacheta will resell ALK's CoPilot Live Professional and CoPilot Truck Professional applications, embedding CoPilot's turn-by-turn directions as options in their TransportACE, RouteACE, MerchandiserACE and ServiceACE mobile workflow applications. CoPilot Truck Professional provides voice-guided GPS navigation with industry-standard PC-MILER truck-specific routing. It calculates the most efficient routing based on vehicle profile information, routing parameters and load type, including hazardous materials.
