The courses instruct in practices in accordance with the CTU Code and SOLAS Verification of Gross Mass (VGM) regulation. TT Club is providing sponsorship to support development of the courses. According to Exis, poor CTU (Cargo Transport Units) packing is responsible for a high number of incidents leading to damage, loss, injuries and fatalities. In addition, the declaration of incorrect container weight (or gross mass) contributes to adverse safety conditions. The new Exis courses are Introduction to the CTU Code and Introduction to Freight Container VGM. The first, providing an overview of the CTU Code, highlights how to navigate key sections of the code, and how it can support training in the packing and securing of cargo. The second course explores the VGM requirement, including the two methods permitted in obtaining the measurement. Those taking the courses will receive course-completion certificates, which can be kept as a record of training.
