Positive or negative: What’s the bottom-line impact of tariffs on U.S. manufacturers?
The escalating trade war between the U.S. and China has led to the imposition of tariffs, along with the threat of even higher ones, by both sides. Caught in the middle are American manufacturers, who were supposed to be the beneficiaries of the Trump Administration’s actions against Chinese imports. Some U.S. companies, however, are suffering, or at the very least in a state of extreme uncertainty over how the tariffs will ultimately affect them. On this episode, we get a perspective from Johny Chaklader, national leader of the International Trade and Regulatory Affairs practice of the accounting firm BDO. He discusses the consequences of the tariffs so far, and lays out the options for U.S. businesses looking to mitigate their impact. When it comes to seeking relief, do you have to be a large company or trade organization to get the government’s attention? Hosted by Bob Bowman, managing editor of SupplyChainBrain.
