LLamasoft, Inc., a vendor of supply chain network-design software, has added features to its Supply Chain Guru product. They include advances in transportation modeling. Users of the latest release of Supply Chain Guru can optimize the number of transportation assets required, assess the proper positioning of those assets, and consider seasonal demand variations. They can model pooled truckload and multi-stop strategies to test the feasibility of new network designs. They can predict a supply chain's service behavior, with respect to on-time shipments and orders, shipments filled from inventory, and individual orders filled from inventory. They can simulate route-schedule output from transportation-management systems to assess feasibility and predict service levels. Other functions allow for the incorporation of detailed return-trip behavior, and access to the latest less-than-truckload rates for all North American supply-chain models. In two other related announcements, LLamasoft has entered into a pair of strategic alliances with independent software vendors. RateWare XL, an LTL rating tool from SMC3, has been fully integrated into Supply Chain Guru, giving users on-demand access to the latest LTL rates, as well as class and density pricing. Also newly integrated into Supply Chain Guru is the PC-Miler software of ALK Technologies, allowing companies to calculate freight routes and miles for all global regions.
