LLamasoft, a vendor of software for supply-chain network design, has released Visual Modeler, a strategic analysis and modeling application. It provides users with the ability to view supply-chain network structures, edit data and create entire models. Visual Modeler is directly linked to the data tables used in LLamasoft's Supply Chain Guru software. All parameters of the model can be viewed, added to, modified, or deleted on the interactive "canvas." The system automatically updates any model changes throughout the database. Users can visually build models instead of using multiple data tables. Drag-and-drop functions allow for the creation of products, sites, sourcing policies and transportation policies. Existing models can be checked for missing data or validated by reviewing key inputs in Visual Modeler. Sourcing, transportation and inventory policies can be changed for one or multiple sets of data. Users can filter by products, sites, customers or policies for quick editing. In addition to providing maps for overall views, the application incorporates specific products, customers and geographic flows. Companies can create and save unique views by product, customer or site filters. Visual Modeler is available free of charge as an automatic update to all existing LLamasoft clients, through the software maintenance program.
