Tideworks Technology Inc., a developer of software for marine terminal management and planning, has added Crane Telemetry to its Spinnaker Planning Management System. Spinnaker integrates vessel, berth, yard and rail-planning tools within a single workspace. The new Crane Telemetry tool allows terminal operators to automate the process of identifying the physical stowage position of containers loaded to, or discharged from, a vessel in real time. Accounting for vessel arrival conditions, planned stowage locations and other factors, Crane Telemetry automates the calculation of vessel bay, stack and tier. According to Tideworks, it helps operators to increase the productivity of container movements. The tool also detects and provides alerts to vessel planners when containers are not loaded to their planned positions. Crane Telemetry can be applied to operations of any size, aiding operators in eliminating the latency in reporting container locations to the terminal operating system. The technology also avoids the inaccurate location reporting that can result from integrated, third-party locating systems, Tideworks said.
