The RailSight Car Location Message (CLM) engine of Railinc is now offering historical tracing capabilities for multi-year analysis. The tool also integrates with Web services and supply-chain software from SAP AG, for seamless connections to rail fleet and event data. Users of RailSight include rail equipment owners, shippers, third-party logistics providers and transportation management system (TMS) software vendors. The new historical trace capability gives users a broader view of critical business information, such as financial audits, interstate tax calculations, and railcar liability determination. The fee-based service expands the visibility of past event data up to four a half years. A Web services feature gives users immediate access to rail fleet and event data in RailSight without the need for special configurations. With bi-directional integration, customers can talk directly to the RailSight CLM engine, requesting car location inquiries and other event data from their in-house applications. The track and trace engine delivers more than 7.5 million rail events each day, from more than 500 Class I, II and III railroads and shops across the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
