SAP AG has created the first version of its High-Performance Analytic Appliance (HANA), a tool for deploying in-memory data processing. It is intended to promote advances in main memory, processor technology and application expertise, the vendor said. SAP HANA is the result of a collaboration between the company and its key customers, including Coca-Cola Hellenic, Future Group and Hilti. It provides a foundation upon which a new generation of applications can be built, allowing customers to analyze large quantities of data from virtually any source in real time. SAP said it is simplifying existing computer layers and allowing applications to benefit directly from hardware improvements for the first time. SAP has also introduced the SAP BusinessObjects Strategic Workforce Planning application, first in a new generation of in-memory applications based on SAP HANA. It allows managers to simulate scenarios in real time, analyze complex relationships quickly, and see how proposed organizational changes will affect the business. SAP plans to introduce additional new applications based on SAP HANA in the coming year.
