SAP AG has developed version 7.0 of its SAP Promotion Management for Retail application. The software is meant to aid retailers in creating successful sales promotions, while enabling advertising staff to spend less time on such manual tasks as maintaining spreadsheets, re-keying information and editing hard copies of proofs multiple times. According to SAP, the tool can help users to improve productivity and reduce the time required to execute on changes through better collaboration among marketing, merchandising and advertising-execution groups. It enables the creation of timely and targeted advertising by product, category and zone through ad-versioning functionality. In the process, SAP said, retailers can better understand the financial performance of each promotional event, making more efficient use of promotional dollars. Spanning the major retail channels, Promotion Management for Retail will be available as a standalone application, or integrated with SAP Business Suite software.
