Descartes Systems Group has launched its European Union Customs Filing Readiness Program. The effort is in accordance with pending EU filing regulations for imports. EU member states and the region's trading community have formulated an electronic customs multi-annual strategic plan, to provide a framework for creating a paperless environment for customs and trade. The EU Customs Filing Readiness Program was further designed to educate importers, customs brokers, carriers, freight forwarders, non-vessel operating common carriers and shippers about Descartes' Customs Filing and Compliance services. The vendor is offering multiple options to accommodate customers' varying technical capabilities, ranging from a user-friendly Web setup which permits manual data entry, to an integrated system-to-system connection via electronic data interchange. The new services are part of Descartes' Global Logistics Network, which helps to automate and streamline the entire shipment process, bolstered by real-time visibility.
