Emptoris Inc., a provider of software for strategic supply and contract management, has begun operations in China. The company's Emptoris China arm is maintaining a full-service office in Shanghai, offering sales, product development, professional services and customer support. In addition, it is selling a dedicated suite of supply and contract-management applications designed for Chinese companies. The tools incorporate the Chinese language and currency. William Li, who has acted as senior executive for several major software vendors, will oversee Chinese operations as general manager and group vice president, China. He will be joined by a team of local executives with experience in sales, professional services and customer support. The Emptoris Supply and Contract Management suite includes modules for spend analysis, sourcing, services procurement, supplier risk management and contract management.
