Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corp. has expanded its SAS 70 Type 11 certification to include the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, in addition to its current operation in North America. Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, SAS (Statement on Auditing Standards) 70 is a widely used benchmark for measuring service organizations. The new audit of OL&T's EMEA operations was conducted by the independent audit firm of BDO Seidman, LLP. According to Cosmo Alberico, OL&T's executive vice president and chief financial officer, the company deals with high volumes of transactions involving a wide range of data-dependent freight activities. SAS 70 certification "demonstrates our company's commitment to rigorous controls to deliver a fully secure, reliable information technology environment." The controls require the adequate segregation of duties to prevent one individual or employee group from having exclusive control over transactions.
