Logility has acquired Optiant Inc., a vendor of supply-chain optimization software, for $3.3m in cash. Logility sells a variety of applications for supply-chain management under the Voyager Solutions brand. Optiant specializes in inventory optimization, supply-chain design and business intelligence. Under the deal, which is subject to post-closing adjustments, Logility will fold Optiant's products into its Voyager suite, under the name Voyager Inventory Optimization. As with other parts of Voyager, the former Optiant tool can be deployed in a stand-alone manner, or as part of a broader supply-chain initiative. Based on work by supply-chain practitioners along with researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the newly acquired products model and identify interdependencies across the supply chain. Optiant's sales, support and development team will join Logility and continue to work on enhancements to the Logility Voyager Solutions Suite. Industries targeted by Logility include consumer goods, life sciences, process manufacturing, discrete manufacturing, wholesale distribution and high-tech.
