Tideworks Technology Inc. has made available Intermodal Pro, an operating system for intermodal terminals. It features intuitive graphical tools and user-driven reporting, to eliminate the guesswork from intermodal terminal operations while enabling the more efficient loading and unloading of trains. Intermodal Pro comes out of the vendor's Spinnaker Planning Management System, an integrated application for vessel, berth, yard and rail planning, now tailored to meet the needs of intermodal terminals. The new system offers automated planning tools that are intended to speed up loading, unloading and gate operations, in addition to maximizing space utilization. It features user-driven reporting tools and a network topology that allows terminal operators to centralize planning, equipment tracking and gate operations from multiple terminals. In addition, an electronic data interchange engine and translator aid in the trading of booking and billing data with customers, partners and back-office systems. Automated dispatch and optimization capability, available with the Traffic Control module, transmit container move instructions to equipment operators via a user-friendly graphical interface, Tideworks said.
