FreightCenter.com, a provider of transportation-management system (TMS) software, has entered into a technology partnership with SMC3, a vendor of freight transportation applications. The deal integrates SMC3's RateWar XL rating tool, including carrier data contained in CarrierConnect, with the FreightCenter.com TMS. The latter also provides access to ALK Technologies' PC-MILER rating software through SMC3's RateWare XL, which helps companies to determine accurate mileage. The new partnership follows the recent announcement of an interface between RateWare XL and PC-MILER Web Services. RateWare XL combines carrier-specific rates with CarrierConnect points of service and transit times to give users a complete view of less-than-truckload rating and pricing, the companies said. The service-oriented architecture for RateWare XL is completely Web-based and runs through a single point of access, eliminating the need to install software upon implementation. The FreightCenter.com TMS comprises back-end technology which includes custom rates, automated quoting, booking, scheduling, tracking, a customer-relationship management (CRM) application and reporting. Front-end customer websites allow companies to offer online transportation support for their customers, while maintaining their own branding and identity.
