IFS, creator of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) application based on service-oriented architecture (SOA) technology, has designed the latest version of IFS Applications to support legal requirements in Brazil. IFS said it is simplifying the process for global corporations looking to set up operations in Brazil. IFS has more than 100 active customers in that country, many of which are in the oil and gas industry. The localized version of IFS Applications caters especially to companies that operate in Brazil, and rely on one central database for all of their sites worldwide. In a related announcement, IFS has agreed to purchase 100 percent of LatinIFS Tecnologia da Informacao S.A., an IFS Applications distributor and implementation partner headquartered in Brazil. The deal is intended to strengthen the company's market position in the Latin American market, as well as in focus areas such as oil and gas, utilities and engineering and construction.
