APICS, which bills itself as The Association for Operations Management, has entered into a partnership with Involvation to create the Fresh Connection Supply Chain Competition to North America. APICS offers certification, education and membership services for supply chain managers. Involvation, designer of The Fresh Connection, is a consultancy focused on supply chain issues. The new venture gives supply chain teams a chance to compete while expanding their knowledge of effective supply chain management, APICS said. It will be offered for the first time prior to the organization's 2009 International Conference & Expo in Toronto on Oct. 3. The Fresh Connection is a Web-based game developed to encourage supply chain management professionals use teamwork and expertise to help an ailing manufacturer become profitable. Teams have the opportunity to see how their efforts measure up against the competition.
