UPM Raflatac has introduced a new Belt UHF radio frequency identification (RFID) tag for high-volume applications, including retail supply chain and apparel tagging. The technology allows for item-level tracking in environments where reliability and durability are essential, the vendor said. The global antenna design allows for dependable, high radio-frequency performance using a single tag in all UHF frequency regions worldwide, regardless of local regulations. The tag is based on NXP's UCODE G2iL integrated circuit. It contains 128 bits of EPC memory and 32-bit password protection. Also included are a 64-bit unalterable tag identifier and a read-protection feature to support privacy. The device is available in three delivery formats: dry inlay, wet inlay and paper face tag. The UCODE G2iL+ version of the integrated circuit provides additional features such as tag tamper alarm, digital input/output, external supply mode, direct data transfer and 4R-mode (Real Read Range Reduction) for protecting consumer privacy.
