Using all three dimensions of the warehouse, Click&Pick maximizes inventory storage density, according to the vendor. Swisslog has tailored the tool to e-commerce by combining its AutoStore inventory-storage technology and high-speed pick stations, as well as its fulfillment software suite. Swisslog also emphasizes improved ergonomics for warehouse workers with its high-speed picking and selecting technology, while boosting productivity to 1,000 picks per selector per hour - more than five times faster than manual shelving systems, according to the company. With the system, slower-moving SKUs descend to the bottom of each stack, and faster-moving items "percolate" to the top. The number of robots working at the top of the storage cube can be increased in line with peak fluctuations in shipping volumes. Robots also perform the actual putaway work, with workers inserting bins into the storage cube via one or more receiving stations. The Click&Pick technology is already in use throughout Europe.
