Descartes Systems Group has forged an alliance with The Createch Group, a unit of Bell Canada Co. and provider of services related to supply-chain optimization and information-technology integration. The deal calls for Createch to market, distribute and implement Descartes' Mobile Resource Management (MRM) 2.0 applications in the Canadian market. In addition, Createch will assist in the distribution of Descartes' Supply Chain Execution software. In the process, The Createch Group joins Descartes' United by Design partner network. It offers services in manufacturing and logistics performance improvement, process reengineering, change management and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems integration. In a related announcement, Descartes and Microsoft are joining technologies to extend the capabilities of Descartes' Global Logistics Network. The GLN is being offered through Microsoft's Cloud Services Platform, Windows Azure. The move reflects Descartes' long-time involvement in the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model of delivering applications. Descartes will be able to extend the GLN based on customer demand while keeping costs low, the partners said.
