It was designed to provide more accurate forecasts across all time horizons, whether near-term for deployment or long-term for strategic planning. According to the vendor, the new product removes the need for statisticians individually to review and refine each forecasting model. It is intended to help manufacturers improve the performance of demand-planning tools from companies such as SAP AG, JDA Software and Oracle Corp. It frees planners from correcting initial forecast outputs that are clearly unrealistic, Terra Technology said. Instead, they can focus on areas that require knowledge outside of forecasting systems, such as planning promotions or changes in network design. The result, claimed Terra Technology, is more accurate predictions of future demand, and increased planner productivity.
